Mary Jade Wilkinson
“All Things Spring”
“When I think of spring, things that come to mind are flowers, little bugs, and the spring carnival. I wanted to create something colorful and fun, inspired by ladies in costumes on stilts and vibrant floral patterns.”
We love Mary’s bold, colorful composition filled with spring characters. Her integration of 2D and 3D elements sits beautifully in that 2.5D space.
An excellent use of Grease Pencil! The combination of lively lines and charming characters, plus her carefully planned sketches, made this piece truly stand out.
Prize: Huion Kamvas 24 Plus graphic tablet
2.5K QHD Resolution, QLED, and PenTech 3.0 to build your professional studio!
2nd Place: Mathew den Boer
Warden of Spring
“Springtime in Toronto alternates between sunshine and rain. I imagined spring as a caretaker distributing water and solar energy over the land. I was inspired by Moebius’ art and Hayao Miyazaki’s films.”
We love Mathew’s imaginative take on Spring! His warden of Springtime, along with the interplay of 2D style and textured weather elements, brings the piece to life. The animated textures and buzzing bugs add so much atmosphere - beautiful work!
Prize: Huion Kamvas 13 (Gen 3) graphic tablet
3rd Place: Jindrarune
Sunrise Ride
“I decided to create one of my favorite things - sunrises. I’ve always loved painting them, and this was a chance to bring that feeling into Grease Pencil. A cat sits on a motorbike, watching the sunrise over a blooming spring landscape. It’s about those quiet moments when nature, light, and stillness come together in early spring.”
We love the way Jindrarune captures that gentle, poetic moment. The complex, textured background contrasts beautifully with the character, and the lighting adds so much atmosphere. Stunning work!
Prize: Huion Kamvas 13 (Gen 3) graphic tablet
