Create & rig your 2.5D character in Blender for your chance to win a Nintendo Switch 2.

We’ve been seeing some amazing 2.5D student results coming out of Patata School and we want to help encourage you to get involved too, mixing our favourite things: Character Design, Blender, and Grease Pencil.

We have plenty of courses full of different styles and techniques to get you started…

Join us today to learn the techniques and enter the contest by January 10th 2027!

  • Originality: The character must be your own original design.

  • Focus: Focus primarily on the overall design and aesthetic of your character.

  • Animation: While animation is not the primary focus, we would love to see some movement. Even simple camera motion or subtle character movement is plenty!

  • Rig Showcase: We’d like to see how your rig works; a simple screen recording demonstrating the rig in action is completely sufficient.

  • Deadline: January 10th 2027 | Upload your entry to the Patata School community

We’ll be judging the following categories:

1. Aesthetic Quality

  • A balanced design with well-modelled elements and consistency.

2. Innovation

  • An interesting use of the programme and techniques with clear intention.

3. Personality

  • We want to see your motivations and ideas behind the piece. Please share some explanation, WIPs or references to help us understand why you decided to create this piece.
